South Australia's Home Battery Scheme: Update

South Australia's Home Battery Scheme: Update

Cheaper power - its here! Establishing a Home Battery Scheme was a commitment that the Liberal Party took to the March election as part of an overall package to reduce energy costs and invest in clean, green power options. In our 2018-19 State Budget, $100 million over four years in funding was announced for this initiative.

I am pleased to inform you that the Home Battery Scheme has now launched, offering all South Australian households the opportunity to apply. We've also set up a finance scheme to help South Australians borrow the balance of the battery (and solar panels) if required.

This investment will not only directly reduce electricity costs for the 40,000 households that purchase a home battery storage system, but reduce demand on the network and in turn lower prices for South Australians.

If you choose to apply and are approved, your household could be eligible to receive a subsidy of up to $6,000. Your subsidy amount will be scaled in line with the size of the battery storage system being installed, and calculated on the kilowatt hour capacity.
